It will be carried out alongapath that will accompany the student to understand the processes that characterize the different phases of learning and teaching an L2, from the problems of the theoretical basis to the indications for the development of linguistic-communicative skills in the classroom (including virtual). We will move from a first part dedicated to recognizing the theoretical bases of the discipline (what it means to learn an L2, what happens in the head of a student when he comes into contact with a new language, the hypotheses that have been formulated over the years to describes this phenomenon, etc.), to a second, more applied part in which the aspects related to the promotion of foreign languages in the different educational contexts will be presented (starting from the presentation of the methods, to reach problems related to the assessment of skills, going through the ways in which it is possible to develop language skills in the classroom and remotely via online). The course is organized by the University for Foreigners of Siena 3. Learning with the smartphone In this course we will try to understand what are the cognitive, psychological and social effects of the now ubiquitous use of the smartphone. Like all technologies, it also has characteristics that facilitate our social, work and study processes, but which can also generate critical problems at the same time, especially due to excessive use, attracting what is called "smartphone addiction". This addiction can have significant adverse effects in the socio-relational domain, in occupational performance, and especially in school and academic performance, and appears to particularly affect younger age groups. It is a problem whose importance has been perceived for some time both at the research level and in the social sphere, so much so that effective strategies to combat it are being tested around the world. On the other hand, the Smartphone encompasses many technologies (e.g. audio, video, geo-location, Augmented Reality and others) which, together with the Internet connection, can offer very interesting opportunities for both formal and informal learning contexts. informal.
