This was a China based(HK registered)small trading company.The company was dealing in quite a variety of products from Fabrics,Garment trims,furniture,workwear,safety equipment to carbon fabrics and laminates etc.Main markets were the UK,Middle East and India. As this company was owned by an Indian,the management decided to relocate the business to India and continue operations in2020.However, the onset of COVID-19led to significant challenges,including disruptions in deliveries from China.Additionally,many of our customers were forced to close their businesses during this period.I've been working closely with the management to restart the business from India,however the progress has not been as expected.

Got a chance to Head a sourcing office from China for a UK based Garment/Fashion accessories Retailer-Store21.This retailer had about 250stores all over the UK and purchases included Garments for Ladies, Mens,Kids which included everything from inner wear to winter jackets etc.Their buying list also included ladies bags,Footwear,winter accessories and Home furnishings etc. I began these operations from scratch like looking for an office place in China to hiring local staff to find vendors for different items.I had two local Chinese staff to handle things in the beginning and by the time I left this company in2011the total office strength had gone to25.that gives an idea of the growth we could achieve.From2MM USD worth of sourcing in2006to25MM USD in2011.A almost100%growth year on year. During the buying season we had to compete for orders with offices in India and Bangladesh and more often than not we could grab the deals due to my personal relations and rapport I had built with my China vendors and also negotiation skills. One more achievement at this Job I would like to highlight.Around2009 the UK management decided to do a complete Rehaul/Rebrand of the stores in the UK and for that most of the material like Display furniture, gondolas,lights,flooring,Mannequins etc were sourced by the China office headed by me.This resulted in savings up to more than50%against if they were purchased from a UK importer.

Responsible for sourcing fabrics from Indonesia,Taiwan and China. Extensively traveled to these countries and also was stationed in fabric mills for execution of orders,follow-up and quality checks.After a year or so it was decided by the management that I should settle down in China as the business increased.Here I developed a direct rapport with the fabric mills thus sidelining the agents from Hong Kong,Dubai etc.This resulted in sizable savings to the company. Slowly started learning Mandarin and within a few months was quite fluent in the language and I could independently manage my basic activities like traveling,shopping etc.Also I adapted very quickly to local cuisine and had no problem in staying nearer to the factories which were mostly in the interior areas.

Responsible for development,sourcing and quality checking of fabrics for Polo T-shirts&Woven shirts manufacturing for export to the USA.

Responsible for marketing of fabrics to various garment exporters in and around Mumbai.Regular visits to exporters for new inquiries,sample developments etc.Also physical follow-up of status of samples and bulk orders with the manufacturing units.

Responsible for testing and quality checks right from Raw Cotton,slivers,yarns to finished Greige fabric.Was confirmed and promoted to the post of Department Assistant within3months of Joining.
