After completing my studies in Electrical Engineering, I pursued a degree in Architecture at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. Unfortunately, I had to discontinue my studies due to an accident. During my recovery, I focused on language learning, particularly Italian, driven by my passion for Italy and its language. Between 2009 and 2011, I worked as a staff member at the Italian desk of Use-It Rotterdam. My tasks mainly included welcoming guests, managing check-ins and check-outs, and answering inquiries via phone and email, primarily in Italian, English, and Dutch. I also promoted Rotterdam as a city and its surrounding regions, provided advice to tourists, and translated brochures from Dutch/English into Italian, enabling guests to access information independently. This role required strong technical language skills and effective communication. Use-It Rotterdam provided me with the opportunity to apply and enhance my language skills, especially in Italian. Between 2011 and 2014, I held various roles at Albeda College, Stichting Gilde, and Volksuniversiteit Rotterdam. I taught Italian, English, and Dutch. For Stichting Gilde, I translated brochures, such as one for a church in the Delfshaven district of Rotterdam, and provided Italian conversation classes for beginners and advanced learners. My work focused on language use, interpretation, and the practical application of Italian, English, and Dutch. In 2016, I returned to Use-It Rotterdam as a staff member at the Italian desk. Once again, I communicated with clients, primarily in Italian, but also in English and Dutch. I prepared brochures about trips in Rotterdam and translated them into Italian. Since 2017, I have been working as a freelance translator for various translation agencies, providing translations from Italian to English and vice versa. As a person, I value friendly and precise communication with clients, making clear agreements, and delivering assignments as quickly and accurately as possible. I possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch, English, and Italian. The language experience and knowledge I have gained over the years make me a strong candidate for freelance translation work in Italian-English/Dutch or vice versa. Currently, I specialize in translating technical texts (electrical engineering, architecture) and commercial texts (brochures, websites). Additionally, I am experienced in translating texts related to tourism, trade, and technology, having completed several courses in these fields.
