English Teacher

PRINCETON INTERNATIONAL KINDERGARTEN SHENZHEN
2020.08-2020.10(3 months)
My job title was “Full-time English Homeroom teacher” at Princeton International Kindergarten in Nanshan, Shenzhen, China. Here my duties were to write lesson plans and set home-work tasks each day/week, support, guide, play, teach the children who were between the ages of 2-6 years old throughout each day and to arrange, plan and organize for any special events that were coming up. I would welcome/greet all arrivals in a morning and see off all departures to their families on the evenings, I continuously spoke English with them from the moment they arrived until the moment they departed - I would introduce everything from their meals - what contents they were going to eat that day, instructing the children what to do next (such as go to the toilet, wash hands, no talking whilst eating, hold the railingwhen using stairs and to walk in single line for example) along with the contents/topic I planned on teaching that day and how to play the games. I seemed to have made a big impact in only a short space of time here and built many relationships with my co-workers, principal and families, many who I still have great relationships with and stay in contact with today. Here I taught the S.T.E.M. curriculum (Science, Technology, English, Maths) and would coach Soccer once a week and make sure all the children were fully up to date with their activity, progress and learning books provided. I received great feedback and compliments from this school and parents, the references can be provided upon request.

Here I was a full-time English Teacher

SNU-K
2018.09-2020.08(2 years)
INTERNATIONAL NORMAL UNIVERSITY & KINDERGARTEN CHENGDU , that also specialized in Art and Football (Soccer) classes to young children aged between the ages of 2-6 years old at SNU-K Private International School in Chengdu, China. I greet, welcome, acknowledge and interact with the students and families upon every daily arrival and departure. Complete the class registers, interact with each child to make them feel safe, relaxed, comfortable and valued; offering classroom support and assistance when required, while practicing the English we have/are covering and reassure all students that they are now in a comfortable and safe learning environment which supports their individuality, creativeness and growth. My experience has demonstrated that the understanding, adjustments and adaptions to each child’s individual and specific learning needs, ability and level is the most beneficial. Children like to be intrigued and mystified, I believe we are all born naturally curious, so with the realization-aspect of understanding child-like curiosity, and understanding young learners short-attention spans, it’s important to keep education as interesting, fun and engaging as possible.

After my own personal twist of “ice-breakers” and introductions were over, I would then lead my students on a City Walk and Tour, educating them on the various Streets, Areas, Shops, Restaurants, Food’s, Expressions, Meanings, Directions and would answer any questions, concerns, or curiosities, as I brought them to frequent and informative stops. Being the sports editor, I had to be totally reliable, sociable, efficient, and trustworthy. As well as working as a team, I travelled to the same facilities, where the local "Evening Chronicle" newspaper is designed and edited. This is where me and my team created “The Mortimer Pupil” newspaper. I was trained on the same programs as the Evening Chronicle with first-hand experience from the editors themselves. CVN PRINT & DESIGN July 2006 My duties whilst at CVN Print & Design were to experience day to day life in a print and design factory. Some of my duties here were; laminating, stapling, binding and folding clients work as well as going on delivery runs and expressing my own initial idea’s one-on-one with the designer himself. In my own time I produced some designs and ideas of my own for the designer’s current client work, which he was working on – because I wished to seek his thoughts, knowledge and advice. He seemed very pleased with the various concepts I produced and while I was there, I even got to witness my own idea’s being used and produced in mass quantity by the printing machines in the factory itself. HEBBURN TYNE & WEAR FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE June 2006 On this placement, I experienced the daily life of a Firefighter. In which I wore the full Official uniform on, complete with hardhat and an oxygen tank strapped to my back - in which I used as apparatus to breathe. My visor was blacked out so I could not see, simulating an actual day to day real life, fire occurrence; I had to use purely my own instinct, initiative and co-operation skills to get around the building doing various set tasks safely or crawling through a sewer underground, again using our own initiative, instinct, co-operation and team work skills - completing various set tasks.) I also took part in the daily training routines of a Firefighter, which every Firefighter has to complete on a regular daily basis. I was also taught the techniques (theory and practical) used in extinguishing the many various fire types, including; chip pan fires, wheelie bin blazes etc. TYNE TYPE PRINTERS January 1998 - Feb 2001 This is where I first got a taste for working within a Business, dealing with Customers and the Public.
