Summary

Subject: Application for the position of French Lecturer the University Dear Sir/Madam, It is with great enthusiasm that I submit my application for the position of French Lecturer in the French Department. As a passionate and dedicated candidate, I am confident in my ability to meet the high standards of your esteemed institution. In February 2019, I earned my doctorate in French Language, Literature, and Civilization, under the supervision of Professor Philippe Jousset (Aix-Marseille University) and Professor Mustapha Trabelsi (University of Sfax, Tunisia). My dissertation, titled “The Poetics of Fantasy in the Work of Romain Gary,” currently under publication, allowed me to deepen my literary education in a rigorous academic environment. This thesis, meticulously guided by Professor Jousset, enabled me to develop expertise in literary theories, particularly in the context of 20th-century French novels. My research offers a renewed perspective on Romain Gary's work, positioning me as a specialist in this field. Engaged in academia, I am particularly interested in the challenges of 20th-century French and Francophone novels and the concept of literary and pictorial intermediality. My dual profile as both a researcher and a painter fosters an interdisciplinary approach to my work. My research often explores the relationship between word and image, while my artistic creations, exhibited notably in Seoul, reflect my interest in the affinities between narrative and pictorial representation. An overview of my work is available on my website: [amaljarrahi.art](http://amaljarrahi.art). Recently, I had the honor of presenting an innovative research project on post-impressionist painters’ correspondence, which garnered significant interest at La Sorbonne and the University of Montreal. Although the project could not proceed due to lack of funding, its acceptance underscores the relevance and quality of my analytical skills. My publications also contribute to the fields of Francophonie and interculturality, including works on pictorial Orientalism and civilizational blending in novelistic writing. Even before embarking on my research career, I was engaged with Francophonie, having worked as a journalist for French-speaking daily press in Tunisia. Today, Francophonie is not only an intellectual focus but also a central part of my personal identity. Throughout my career as a secondary school teacher and university lecturer, I have taught literature using diverse pedagogical approaches, helping students develop critical thinking and analytical skills. This experience has equipped me with strong didactic skills to structure French language and literature courses effectively. My curiosity, pedagogical sense, and excellent interpersonal skills are widely recognized by colleagues and professors. These qualities stem partly from my experiences living in Malta, Iran, and currently in South Korea. These opportunities for social and cultural immersion have strengthened my communication abilities, allowing me to adapt quickly to diverse environments. I am confident that these enriching experiences will also benefit my students. I am convinced that my profile, experience, and knowledge will be a valuable asset to your department. I hope my application will capture your attention and earn a favorable response—an invaluable opportunity in my career path. I remain available for an interview at your convenience. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of contributing to your institution.
