Most Populous Cities In China

China is home to 41 cities that each have a population of two million or more people. There are 21 cities in the United States that have a population of more than two million people. There are fifteen in India, twelve in Brazil, and six in Japan. China is home to 79 of the world's 478 cities that rank highest in terms of population. 55 are located in the country of India, 53 in the country of the United States, and 50 on the continent of Europe. There are about one hundred cities in China with populations of one million or more people.

1) Shanghai: Shanghai is the most populous and economically developed city in China. Its very name has become associated with business on a worldwide scale. Large, vibrant neighborhoods may be found on either side of the Huangpu River, contributing to the city of Shanghai's status as one of the most wealthy in the world. Shanghai is home to the world's fastest railway (the Maglev), as well as a big financial area, two major airports (Pudong and Hongqiao), a network of elevated expressways, and the world's largest financial center.

2) The population of China's capital, Beijing, is 19 million, and its gross domestic product (GDP) per resident is $15,000. The nation's political, educational, and cultural centers are all located in the city of Beijing. The Forbidden City may be found at the intersection of all six of Beijing's ring roads. It is home to the biggest airport in the world as well as a brand modern metro system that is continuously developing. Nevertheless, there remains a persistent problem with traffic in the nation's capital.

3) Guangzhou Guangzhou is a major industrial center in China and draws millions of villagers from the surrounding countryside to work in the city's industries. Toys, apparel, electronics, and other goods made of plastic and other materials are produced in large quantities in Guangzhou for export to other parts of the globe. Guangzhou organizes the China Import Export Fair (commonly known as the Canton Fair) twice per year.

4) Shenzhen: Situated in the Pearl River Delta between Guangzhou and Hong Kong, Shenzhen is the fourth largest city in China. The city has developed into a major manufacturing hub and now ranks fourth in China in terms of the production of its industrial sector. Shenzhen is second only to Guangzhou in terms of the number of high-tech items that it manufactures, and it is home to numerous local technology businesses.

5) Tianjin: Situated in the Bohai Bay, Tianjin is an enormous port and a major industrial hub. Its location on the Grand Canal, which links the Yangtze and Yellow rivers, makes it an ideal transportation hub. More than ten million containers are moved through the Port of Tianjin each and every year, making it the seventh busiest container port in China. It is situated 70 kilometers to the southeast of Beijing and serves as the city's primary port of entry for maritime traffic.

6) Dongguan: Situated between Guangzhou and Shenzhen, Dongguan is an industrial city with a relatively low profile. Because it has such a high volume of exports, it holds the fourth place in China. A significant number of people from rural areas are employed in the production of electronics and hardware at the companies located in Dongguan.
