o Working collaboratively with academic staff on the development of a shared vision for the Department and on the planning, development, and implementation of the curriculum o Working with staff members on updating the documents needed for renewing NAQAAE accreditation o Communicating the University’s strategic goals, new regulations, and policy developments to members of the Department, and explaining the rationale for change o Disseminating information from meetings of the Faculty Council o Representing the Department’s views and interests both within the Faculty and University as well as more broadly

o Working collaboratively with academic staff on the development of a shared vision for the Department and on the planning, development, and implementation of the curriculum o Ensuring academic validation of programmes and the adopting of UK academic standards and quality assurance practices in learning and teaching throughout the Department o Managing the Departmental Academic and Administrative Staff, as well as hiring of new staff o Being responsible for the effective management of the Department as line manager of Module Leaders, Departmental Academic and Administrative Staff, as well as hiring of new staff o Being responsible for performance review and mentoring full-time and part-time staff within the Department o Requiring and monitoring staff attendance of relevant staff development workshops as deemed appropriate o Promoting collegiality among all staff and maintaining an equitable environment for all o Communicating the University’s strategic goals, new regulations, and policy developments to members of the Department, and explaining the rationale for change o Disseminating information from meetings of the Faculty Council o Representing the Department’s views and interests both within the Faculty and University as well as more broadly o Overseeing and approving the inquiry process in the Department o Ensuring the APR is completed and representing the Department with the Programme Director at the APR meeting o Reviewing the External Examiner’s and Subject Advisor’s reports on the examination process, and ensuring appropriate action is taken by the relevant academic staff o Reviewing research proposals and projects as a member of the Faculty Research Ethics Committee o Teaching at least one module per semester and promoting a positive and supportive learning environment o Undertaking other duties as reasonably may be required by the Faculty Dean or Vice Deans o Forming committees/ teams when needed to carry out specific assignments and tasks
