1. Design new furniture - This will involve mood boards, sketching and maybe sometimes CAD to realise the full details of the design before taking it to sample production. 2. Sample production - You will follow your design through the sample production process and make iterations as needed. 3. Costing and quoting - You will need to evaluate the cost vs sale price to offer to customers. 4. Customer management and business development - Take on new design briefs from customers and meet deadlines. 5. Customer price/quality decisions - During mass production you may be called upon to give product improvement directions. 6. Customer presentations and exhibitions - You will sometimes need to present your new designs to customers in showrooms or our own exhibitions. Established in 2007, we are a foreign upholstered furniture factory based in Dongguan, China. We chose Dongguan over the other bigger cities for its great life style benefits. Dongguan is less crowded, has great weather, a cheaper cost of living, a large expat community, international schools, international restaurants and bars and in normal times is only 37min on the bullet train to down town Hong Kong. Our main product categories are Chairs, Sofas and Beds. We only work with big brand retailers in the UK, USA, Canada and Australia. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented furniture designer to take over from the boss who is also a Designer. This role reports directly to the General Manager. The role will head a 20 person development team who will produce samples from your designs which will be presented to well known retailers around the world and then go into mass production. This is an extremely rewarding role for any designer.

- You need to be very familiar with furniture design, sketching, mathematics, presentation and organizational skills. - You need to absorb new fashion trends and be very comfortable translating them into new furniture designs. - The work location is mainly in Dongguan, but you will be required to travel to the US and Europe once or twice a year to attend furniture exhibitions. - Mandarin speaking is preferred.
